5 mins into the game, against an in-form Birmingham City who was on a 15-match unbeaten run, Joe Cole outpace, outstripped Lee Bowyer on the right hand side to chip a delightful cross for Flo Malouda to spring back and head the ball into the net, past a totally exposed Joe Hart.
that basically set up the whole mood of the game. i was pretty much dozing off every 10 minutes or so, but i can still clearly remember how well the Blue Machine steamrolled the Brums. 32 mins gone, Franky Lampard took a square pass from Ze German. One touch and one arrowed shot later, the ball was nestling in the corner of the net. the Birmingham defense basically stood him off, which was a fatal mistake.
Basically the whole team played immensely well, even Deco the lazy insipid bugga who somehow seemed to have found his calling playing at the base of CA's diamond, as the regatista or deep lying playmaker. it was good to see Deco snapping at the heels of the Birmingham attackers like a terrier and spraying balls out for his more attack minded teammates.
By the time Lampard scored his second goal, a sweet drive after galloping 60 yards or so, eating up turf with his long strides to meet Malouda's pass after Chelsea had broken free on the counter, we were already safely and impressively sitting on the top of the table.
With Arsenal dropping points and picking up a couple of injuries, and Man Utd adding another match fixture into this crucial period, and with Drogba due back soon, things are all looking sweet for us. it is time for us to claim back the BPL trophy, once and for all.
KTBFFH.
cheers.
