Review: Pirates of The Carribean: On Stranger Tides

Seriously people, I just though I give me two penny worth of what I think of this Pirates. Especially since its been getting a huge amount of flak lately. People have been saying "show sucks", "show damn boring", "I FELL ASLEEP!", "No Bloom, No Keira Knightly show dies" yada yada...and so on.

Once again, before I start, this is purely my own thoughts. You don't bloody well have to agree with me. XD

First of all, "No Bloom, No Knightly", is a BLOODY GODSEND! In fact, the lovebirds' absence damn well made the who show ticked better. In Pirates 2 and 3, the antics of both Will Turner and Liz Swan were purely annoying and irritating. Especially Knightly's Swan who can't seem to not get in the way of Johnny "Awsome" Depp.

I mean, c'mon rite, the show is about pirates...like dohhh! Turner and Swan are not fit to be pirates. We want pirates to be bloodthirsty, cutthroats, sly conniving bastards who don't give a shit about anyone else. Definitely not pretty faces. So without the pair, the whole show suddenly feels more piratey than it ever been! Aye! Depp has always been brilliant and with Penelope Cruz as the Spanish cursing swashbuckling ex-nun, that like more than makes up for Bloom and Knightly's absence.

 

Aye! Captain Jack Sparrow is the real star of the series.

Now again people, to those who said they actually fell asleep, I just wanna ask...."You Blind Arrrr?"
How can you ruddy fall asleep when there are....MERMAIDS!
Ok sure they appeared for barely 10 minutes, 5 of which the turned into their demonic selves. But but...mermaids! c'mon...even if its just 2 minutes, that 2 minutes is enough to even safe the world.
And come one.....Syrena's gotta be the cutest mermaid there ever is.....XD

And so you've got yourself a host of pretty awesome characters, dazzling performances by Johnny Depp as usual and with the supporting cast not bad themselves, its pretty much a great recipe for success.
Wait, it was boring you said?
Right so lets have a quick lookie at the plot.
I actually found the plot pretty much engaging. from Angelica posing as Sparrow, to Sparrow's capture on Queen Anne's Revenge, and that pretty hilarious attempted mutiny. It was A good.
Not to forget, a pirates movie is always usually themed with a quest to complete. Here, you have a quest, The elusive Fountain of Youth...oh which reminds me of Captain Teague's (Keith Richards) bloody hilarious line..."Does this face looks like its been to the fountain?" hehe.

So why is it boring? I really have no idea. My only theory is that A) You are a Bloom fangirl and go ballistic over seeing Bloom on-stage...which urgh reminds me of friggin Legolas. Hence if no Bloom the show would suck for you. However, just FYI, your taste in men and movies would really suck BIG time if you're part of this category.

B) You have a thing against pirates and Johnny Depp which I find highly unlikely. Depp is a crowd favourite. Thus it leads to.....

C) You simply have dreadful taste when it comes to judging movies...You're prolly one of those who went for Justin Bieber's Never Say Never (or something like that) and said it was bloody good. well sucks to be you. Cas if I were the Captain, you be walking the plank right this instant.

There. my two penny worth. Hope it helps. And it also means...Go watch the damn movie! Worth every penny farthing you'll pay and you won't regret.

Lots of rants lately. Guess thats what happens when you start growing old...

But anyways before that, lets have a.....

I am currently working as a sports journalist in the biggest English medium newspaper in Malaysia, The Star. And to be frank, I really love my job. Its what I have always dreamed of, to be in sports and I'm really living the dream now. As for the job, its not too tough really. Slightly different from being in the newsdesk though. But nevertheless the hours are relatively long depending on the days and the beat you're covering. Also its quite the demanding job because its totally independent whereby the editor do not hand you assignments. Rather you're expected to go out and sniff out your own stories daily and usually at least 2 stories will be expected of you.

Thats the job.

Unfortunately instead of being happy and excited for me, I have some rather sour grapes friends who assume my job is a piece of cake. True my work starts at 2pm and its a rather unorthodox job whereby I don't park my ass in the office the whole day. True there are days when my working hours is only an average of 4 hours. True that I do have quite a fair bit of free time in the office at times. And its also true that I usually go back earlier than the original stated working time.

But all that, DOES NOT make my job any easier compared to a LAWYER, A SOFTWARE ENGINEER, A PR EXECUTIVE, A SALES EXECUTIVE OR AN ACCOUNTANT.

Like hello, you think I'm bloody free doing nothing much in the office but you won't know understand the kind of stress I face when its an absolutely dry day. If I don't produce a story or 2 a day, its my ass on the line. So when I say I'm in the office doing nothing, I'm actually doing a shitload of research and working through contacts trying to get something.

You think its damn fun ah, going out for assignments covering events or tournaments? Hello, i'm working for the record. I'm not out to enjoy a show or something. Its not easy covering an event as you'll need to be on the constant lookout for stories not to mention thick faced enough to approach total strangers. Think you can handle it? I don't think so.

And just because there are times when i go back early means I'm not doing anything. In the sports desk we work as a team. There will be days when some of us are not required to write too much because of the lack of space hence the early trip home. But you don't see me when I actually work over hours, for example waking up a bloody 6 in the morning just to attend players' training and going home only 10-ish. And you don't see me when I actually work long stretches of 10 days plus whilst working on a story. Unlike you office people, my work is not a 5-day week whereby Sat, Sun you're guaranteed an offday. No sir, no such thing.

Therefore, don't bloody fucking criticise my job if you have really no fucking clue about it. Don't compare me to you who park your asses in the office, nicely comfortably in the air-cond room and leave work sharp at 6 everyday. Don't even bloody fucking try to say, "Eh...what work, you're basically relaxing, lepaking only..." because thats the worst insult you can give. If you like to complain about how senang my job is, why not quit yours and try mine? I don't think so.

And for your info, for all the work we put in, we're still very much underpaid (me thinks). Right now i  may earn more than some of you, but thats only because of my rightful allowance. In 3-5 years I'll still be earning roughly the same amount as now whereby you'll be guaranteed promotion and will be earning twice of what I bring home. So literally you have no rights to complain whatsoever.

I know there are times when I say I damn free...but those days don't come by every day in the month. So bottom line is, if you don't know what the fuck you're talking about, don't say a fucking thing. No one is gonna say that you're dumb (can't speak).

I've been thinking lately, after being around in this life for the past 23 years, on what type of people I despise the most. Morons? Idiots? Bimbos?

Those are good choices, but after a bit of thought, I figure that you can't really blame people for shortcomings that they are born with. What I can't really stand, and tops my list of "People I Dislike" are girls who just can't be themselves.

There are many types of girls/women/ladies out there. And I really love being friends with simple honest ones. Cas they're so direct, they'll tell you when dislike some shit about you or when you piss them off. At least you know when to draw your line around them.

Unfortunately, a huge majority of ladies aren't like that. And its sad that most of them out there are ones who just can't be honest enough with themselves or people around them to save their own skin.

There will be Type A - the ones who smile in front of you and act nice when around, act cute, manja a bit prolly cas they want a favor from you. But when you're out of eyeshot, they'll shooting daggers at you and bitching about your shortcoming. Fucking bitches.

Then there's Type B - one who acts as if everything is fine even when you show genuine concern, she'll prolly go..."nothing."....or "never mind".....but then starts complaining on facebook or twitter the moment they reach home. Urgh.

Not to forget, Type C - these are the most terrible ones....and the ones that i really sibeh beh tahan. they'll act manja in their cutesy voice, put on some girl power show in front of others and then on facebook or twitter they'll be posting all the "xoxo", "love you girls/babes", "mwacks" messages and status...like urgh....facebook is tainted enough already. We don't need to see constant over-loved messages on our news feed. Fuck off please.

Well thats all I suppose. There are more I think, but I too darn sleepy to think now.
And FYI, i DON'T hate girls. unless of course they're those within the 3 categories i mentioned. heh.
Oh, and if you fit all three, then too bad la. Sucks to be you. Cas you're a bloody irritating and annoying bitch. Me thinks anyways.

I seriously think I'm misunderstood.

I know some folks got beef with my attitude. Yes I'm cocky, arrogant, proud and confident. But that's because I can. But that also means I'm pretty direct when it comes to my verbal abuse. Not to mention honest. If I think you're stupid, you're most prolly stupid.

This is prolly going to upset certain folks, but I don't really mind.

I believe in speaking your mind. Therefore if i think you're stupid and useless, I'll tell you that. straight to your face. No turning corners and whatnots. If I think you're a nerd, you're a nerd. If I think you're lame, I'll prolly yell at you. If I think you're a fucking bimbo, well chances are I prolly won't even be bother to notice you.

I must also say I'm pretty impatient. If you're too stupid to understand what I'm trying to say, I'll lash out without any second thought.

I know some folks have poor resistance to arrogant people like me. But like it or not, thats how I roll. If you don't like it, you're always welcomed to clear out.

Besides, it takes one to know another. Only a person who is really cocky, arrogant, proud, confident etc will recognize another with the same traits. So if you're accusing me of such, chances are you're no better yourself. Well at least I admit I am.
